Our First Order:
Here is the very first order that I received when I started this business. After a month and a half of knocking on doors and calling local businesses, I received this order on 5/26/1995. I keep this order on the wall in my office as a reminder of my humble beginnings. Thank you to “Rose Jackson” of University of Cincinnati for having confidence in me so many years ago. You probably have no idea how happy that first order made me.
A Local Company:
LaserSmith was started in Cincinnati 1995, by current owner Paul Murphy. Recognizing the need to recycle the many plastics that end up in our nation’s landfills, LaserSmith began to recycle the HP cartridges that were starting to become so popular.  As our business grew, LaserSmith expanded its reach to Dayton, Columbus, Louisville and Lexington.
Alternative to the consumer driven economy:
Many of our competitors have a business model that relies on hardware replacement and upgrades every few years. At LaserSmith we have a different approach. Once the technology reached a level where printers were printing at 40 pages per minute and 1200 dpi the need for constant upgrades became less of a necessity.  We recognized that it was a very “green” solution to keep these printers going for 6,9 even 12 year life cycles with periodic preventative maintenance and cost effective parts. After all, you can make a huge impact on the environment by not producing the plastics and steel that are needed for the next latest and greatest printer.
Standardization:
We have a warehouse with over 500 used printers in stock. These printers come from liquidations, upgrades, and business closings. Since we have become experts in the printer business, we know what parts fail and wear out over time. Our techs repair and bring this equipment up to original specifications and redeploy these machines. This allows us to standardize on printers that may be a few years old and at a fraction of the cost. Many of our competitors only have the latest printers in their showrooms. Their printer offerings change yearly and sometimes even monthly.  This can leave a customer with a patchwork of printers in their fleet. Ordering supplies and operating the equipment becomes a complicated process. Call us if you would like to discuss a strategy for your office.
